Brainstorming

Rise- film opening
The first few shots show the perspective well and clearly demonstrate what the actor is doing. I found it very cool and interesting how the music volume increased once the actor put on his headphones. This makes it seem that he is listening to this exact song that the viewers are also hearing. I also really liked the variety of clips to show the actor getting ready to what the viewer supposes is playing soccer, while also going along to the beat of the music too. The over-the-shoulder shot showed that the new actor/character is watching the first actor shown.

Offline
I liked how it started off by showing instagram, because many people in high school know what it is and how it works, so viewers are eager to see how this social media app is used. I was a little creeped out once it showed the person looking up someones location on the app, and I was even more concerned when the next clip showed a girl in a cage. By switching between scenes of the girl in the cage and another girl, the film is using contrast.

Dear Lover
The calming music and clips of nature leads me to believe that this is a drama or romantic film, something very different than the last video. The girl speaking over the film is non-diegetic sound, as only the viewers can hear it, and also a voice-over, as it was most likely recorded after the filming, not during. I liked the flashbacks that were used along with the voice-over to explain the circumstances of the film. Although it was a little confusing, I liked the "interview type" of layout used too. The actress's acting in those scenes were also very good as well.

Dare to Thrill Opening
The upbeat music and group of friends all talking and laughing with each other makes it seem like this is an adventure or comedy themed opening. I liked the closeups and roar of the cars engine, it really emphasised the danger of the car and how they were not doing what they were supposed to be doing. The shots of the car racing and coming out of the parking garage made the film seem a lot more professional, as the camera was also very steady. I enjoyed the end as well, as it left off on a cliff-hanger and encouraged the viewer to keep watching.

Always Watching
It is clear from the start that the character, Kane, is stalking his best friend and is currently in therapy for it. However, the flashback showing Kane and his friend walking should've been left just as that. Adding in Kane making a creepy face just seemed unprofessional. Especially when the clip stops and shows another clip very similar, making it obvious that they are two clips put together, not one full one. Besides that, I like how the scenes jump back and forth between the office and Kane's unexpected actions. The creepy music also helps a lot too.

The Blue Boar
From the costume and setting, part of misc-en-scene, it is obvious that the time period is very long ago, such as during the time of colonisation in America. The close up of the lady's mouth while speaking emphasised what she was saying. Then the immediate close up of the girl's face showing her reaction also helped to portray the importance of the information. The grin on the young girl's face shows that she is most likely going to do whatever she got in trouble for again. While adventuring, the girl begins to sing, not in the actual film but viewers can tell it is probably her voice, which is an example of non-diegetic sound. However, this soon switches to show the girl singing in the film, which is now diegetic sound.

White Coat
The low-key lighting, deep humming, appearance of smoke, and guy strapped to a chair all indicate that this film is creepy and is probably in the horror, mystery, or thriller genre. It can then be assumed that the smoke is some kind of chemical, from the next clip showing an actor with a face mask on pouring liquids into beakers. I like how it showed a picture of the guy who was tied up with a label above him "Patient #0534", indicating that he is a test subject of sorts and is most likely in danger. The closeups create a sense of suspense, as the viewers can't see much around, only the few places shown close up.

Stalker
Although it sounded kind of fake, as it probably just is an added noise, the sound of pictures being taken is what started off the whole mystery. The close up of the girl's face is a good representation of the unknown and confusion. I wish there would've been more sound or music to go with the film, it seems kind of plain without it. The random sound effects do portray horror and suspense, but combining it with music would've made the audience feel more emotion. The scared face at the end was good though, and quite funny.

Nostalgia
It is kind of confusing what genre this film is and what is even happening. The scenes keep going back and forth between a painting and an old lady. From what I can assume, the paintings represent where the old lady came from, and is probably feeling nostalgic about. I am also confused about the girl at the end. Because of the similar outfits, the younger girl is probably a representation of the older lady when she was younger.

Film Opening- Lost and found
I  really liked the animations and how it turned into what the guy was drawing, that was very creative. The dolly shot of him walking also seemed very professional, as the camera barely moved while going backwards. I also liked the non-diegetic voice-overs of the actor and actress, saying the thoughts in their head without saying anything out loud. I feel like there was more missing. The opening ended with the girl starting to work, when the other guy should've been involved somehow.

By watching all of these films I've concluded many things.
1. Videos with background music are always better. When a film is too quiet it is just awkward, weird, and doesn't feel right.
2. Horror is a very popular genre. Luckily my team picked action/adventure, which I think we can do a lot with. Also, many horror films are very repetitive
3. If actors/actresses are not very good at acting, then use a voice over instead. Bad acting can ruin a film, so instead just use a voice over to be put in during editing.
4. End with a cliffhanger. Videos that ended with cliffhangers were much more interesting and stood out a lot more than those that didn't.
5. Explain the movie enough, but don't give too much information. During some movie openings there was too little and too much information shared that just didn't make it seem right. There should be enough information so the viewer has an idea of what's going on, but still not enough so that they already know the whole storyline.
